[ Proclamation No. 11, February 7, 1966 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM FEBRUARY 13 TO 19, 1966, AS BLIND AND HANDICAPPED WEEK.

WHEREAS, the Vocational Rehabilitation Office created under Republic Act No. 1179 has among its objectives the vocational training and rehabilitation and placement of the blind and other handicapped persons; and

WHEREAS, it is desirable that public attention be drawn to the program and stress laid on the importance of making blind and handicapped persons more useful members of society;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from February 13 to 19, 1966, as Blind and Handicapped Week under the auspices of the Social Welfare Administration. I call upon all our countrymen to turn their thoughts during the week to the great service the Vocational Rehabilitation Office is doing for our blind and handicapped citizens and to extend their full cooperation and support to the program.
