[ Proclamation No. 105, September 12, 1966 ]

DECLARING 1967 AS INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL YEAR AND CREATING A PHILIPPINE COMMITTEE TO UNDERTAKE PREPARATIONS FOR ITS PROPER OBSERVANCE.

WHEREAS, the United Nations General Assembly, upon recommendation of the Economic and Social Council, adopted a resolution declaring 1967 as INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL YEAR;

WHEREAS, the Philippines was one of the twelve countries which sponsored the aforementioned resolution;

WHEREAS, the purpose, among others, of said United Nations resolution is to make governments aware of their responsibilities in the field of international tourism as well as for the realization of tourism’s importance among our people;

WHEREAS, it is likewise the purpose of INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL YEAR to impress upon the peoples of the world the contribution of international tourism in enriching the mind and breeding tolerance towards other peoples trough a direct knowledge of their way of life and their problems; and

WHEREAS, the observance of INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL YEAR will help our people understand better the meaning of the Universal Declaration of the Rights of Man with particular reference to the freedom to travel, the right to rest and leisure, and the right to participate in the cultural life and in the benefits of human progress;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E.1aшphi1 MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare 1967 as International Travel Year under the auspices of a committee to undertake suitable preparation and appropriate observance of said Year composed of the following:
