[ Proclamation No. 103, September 10, 1966 ]

DESIGNATING THE PERIOD FROM SEPTEMBER 1 TO DECEMBER 31, 1966, FOR THE FUND CAMPAIGN OF THE NATIONAL SHRINES COMMISSION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF MT. SAMAT NATIONAL SHRINE.

WHEREAS, the National Shrines Commission is charged with the mission of rehabilitating and developing battlefield areas throughout the Philippines as national shrines, tourist attractions and scenes of popular pilgrimages;

WHEREAS, foremost among the battlefield areas in the Philippines is Mt. Samat, Bataan, scene of the last organized battle of Bataan; and

WHEREAS, Mt. Samat has been declared a national shrine on top of which a fitting memorial to be known as the “Dambana Ng Kagitingan” will be constructed out of the generous contributions of patriotic citizens of the Philippines and of our friends abroad;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from September 1 to December 31, 1966, as the fund campaign period for the Mt. Samat Shrine.

I call upon all residents, firms and organizations of the country and our friends abroad to support this campaign and to give generously to the conservation and development of Mt. Samat into a premiere national shrine.

I authorize and urge all citizens, government officials and employees to be co-owners of the Mt. Samat Shrine through the honorific titles to be issued to the public.1aшphi1
