[ Proclamation No. 501, November 22, 1965 ]

AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE CYCLING ASSOCIATION TO CONDUCT A FUND CAMPAIGN FROM NOVEMBER 22 TO DECEMBER 31, 1965, FOR THE FIRST PHILIPPINE SPORTS MONTH.

WHEREAS, the period from November 28 to December 27, 1965, has been declared under Proclamation No. 468 dated October 4, 1965, as Philippine Sports Month under the auspices of the Philippine Amateur Athletic Association to promote sports in this country and friendly relations with other nations, particularly, Asian countries;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Sports Month implements a basic policy of this Administration of maintaining the friendship of the peoples of Asia;

WHEREAS, to insure the success of the celebration of the first Philippine Sports Month financial support is needed in the conduct of the various events, such as the Second Asian Cycling Championship, the first Philippine Sports Festival and Fair, the Miss Asia Contest, the First Asian Amateur Tour of Luzon, and the First Miss Philippine Sports Popularity Contest; and

WHEREAS, the Philippines Cycling Association, the national sports association of the Philippine Amateur Athletic Federation, has been charged with the task of organizing the first Philippine Sports Month as a great Asian sports event;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIOSDADO MACAPAGAL, President of the Philippines by virtue of the power vested in me by law, do hereby designate the period from November 22 to December 31 1965, for the fund campaign of the Philippine Cycling Association. I hereby call upon all residents, firms, and organization to support this campaign and authorize all heads of government offices and employees to accept, for the Philippine Cycling Association, fund-raising responsibilities in their respective communities,
