[ Proclamation No. 498, November 20, 1965 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 24 TO 30, 1965, AS HISTORY WEEK AND DESIGNATING THE PHILIPPINE HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION AND THE NATIONAL COORDINATING CENTER FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION OF CHILDREN TO JOINTLY TAKE CHARGE OF THE OBSERVANCE THEREOF.

WHEREAS, a nationwide seminar on the theme, “The Youth and the Teachings of Filipino Heroes,” will be held on November 24 to 30, 1965, jointly by the Philippine Historical Association and the National Coordinating Center for the Development and Education of Children; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary that such an important event be brought to the attention of the people so as to arouse in them a deeper historical consciousness and to inspire reverence for Filipino heroes and emulation of their exemplary lives;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIOSDADO MACAPAGAL, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from November 24 to 30, 1965, as “History Week” and designated the Philippine Historical Association and the National Coordinating Center for the Development and Education of Children to jointly take charge of its observance.
