[ Proclamation No. 441, August 27, 1965 ]

DECLARING SEPTEMBER 1 TO 7, 1965, AS SOCIAL SECURITY WEEK.

WHEREAS, the Social Security System, created by Republic Act No. 1161, as amended, was organized in 1955 and started operations on September 1, 1957;

WHEREAS, the establishment of the Social Security System is an important milestone in our country’s promotion of Social Justice as embodied in our Constitution;

WHEREAS, since its establishment, the Social Security System has extended the benefits of social security to hundreds of thousands of workers in private industry throughout the Philippines and has greatly contributed to social progress and the economic development of the country; and

WHEREAS, in spite of the progress thus far made in social security, there is still need to foster greater and more widespread consciousness .among our people of its importance as an objective of our national social policy;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIOSDADO MACAPAGAL, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare September 1 to 7, 1965, as Social Security Week.1aшphi1
