DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM OCTOBER 16 TO 24, 1965, AS NATIONAL FREEDOM-FROM-HUNGER CAMPAIGN WEEK.

WHEREAS, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has designated the period from October 16 to 24, 1965, as the worldwide Freedom-From-Hunger Campaign Week;

WHEREAS, the celebration of Freedom-From-Hunger Campaign Week has far-reaching significance in the life of our people; and

WHEREAS, there is a real need for this celebration in order to awaken our people to the stark reality of the problem of hunger and malnutrition and to arouse their interest in the need for greater food production to ensure adequate supply of nutritious food;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIOSDADO MACAPAGAL, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from October 16 to 24, 1965, as National Freedom-From-Hunger Campaign Week under the auspices of the National Committee on Freedom-From-Hunger Campaign.
