DECLARING 1965 AS PHILIPPINE METEOROLOGICAL SERVICE CENTENNIAL YEAR

WHEREAS, the year 1965 marks the centenary of the foundation of the Philippine Meteorological Service which had its humble beginning as the Manila Observatory;

WHEREAS, during the century of its existence, it has rendered invaluable service to the country and to our people; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to celebrate the significance of the event and to pay tribute to the founding Jesuit Fathers and to the weathermen whose dedicated services and devotion to duty have saved countless lives and considerable property and contributed to national progress;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIOSDADO MACAPAGAL, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by law, do hereby declare 1965 as Philippine Meteorological Service Centennial Year under the auspices of the Weather Bureau. I call upon all citizens and residents to cooperate in making the event a success.
