[ Proclamation No. 334, December 8, 1964 ]

DESIGNATING THE PERIOD FROM MAY 26, 1965, TO MAY 26, 1966, AS SILVER JUBILEE YEAR OF THE GIRL SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES

WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the Philipines will mark on May 26, 1965, twenty-five years of service to Filipino youth;

WHEREAS, during these years, the Organization has been carrying out fully its program of character building and citizenship-training of Filipino girls, arousing in them the highest ideals of citizenship, character, conduct, and service and providing them with opportunities as would make them more useful to the community and nation as a whole;

WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines continues to give the best training to young girls who will be the homemakers, mothers, and citizens of tomorrow, helping them to understand the value of ideals in a practical world and to inculcate in them the need for active participation in the home, in the community, and in the world;

WHEREAS, in the past twenty-five years, thousands of girls as well as adults have shared in the profoundly important spiritual, educational, and social experience of Girl Scouting; and

WHEREAS, as the current strength of more than one hundred sixty thousand Girl Scouts and Scouters celebrate the twenty-fifth year of the Movement, they pay tribute to the founders of Girl Scouting and look forward to the years of service that lie ahead for a more progressive Philippines;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIOSDADO MACAPAGAL, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim May 26, 1965, to May 26, 1966, as Silver Jubilee Year of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines. I call upon all citizens and residents of this country and all institutions and organizations and offices, public and private to give the fullest cooperation and support to this milestone so that an increasing number of girls may benefit from the splendid program in citizenship which the organization offers.1aшphi1
