DECLARING SUNDAY, JULY, 12, 1964, AS FILIPINO ATHLETES DAY

WHEREAS, the fine performance and successful participation of Filipino athletes in the Far Eastern Athletic Championships, the Asian Games, and the World Olympics have brought national honor, pride and international prestige to our country; and

WHEREAS, it is but fitting that a day be set aside to give Filipino athletes proper tribute and due recognition for the invaluable services they have rendered to the country in the world of sports;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIOSDADO MACAPAGAL, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Sunday, July 12, 1964, as Filipino Athletes Day and enjoin its observance by civic and school organizations through appropriate ceremonies and programs.1aшphi1
