DECLARING JUNE 24 1964, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE CITY OF MANILA ON THE OCCASION OF “ARAW NG MAYNILA” OR MANILA FOUNDATION DAY

WHEREAS, the City of Manila during the past two years has fittingly observed June 24 as its founding anniversary with indications that this will be a continuing tradition;

WHEREAS, this yearly celebration accentuates Manila’s historical role as symbol of our national unity and indeed the very seat of our national identity; and

WHEREAS, the people of Manila are entitled to a full day of commemorating this important date not only intheir history but in that of the whole nation;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIOSDADO MACAPAGAL, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare June 24, 1964, as a special public holiday in the City of Manila.1aшphi1
