[ Proclamation No. 229, April 13, 1964 ]

AUTHORIZING THE NATIONAL HEROES COMMISSION TO CONDUCT A FUND CAMPAIGN FROM MAY 1 TO 31, 1964

WHEREAS, the centenary of Apolinario Mabini, the “Sublime Paralytic,” falls this year;

WHEREAS, for a more fitting observance of the event and to bring into focus his unselfish devotion to the national welfare, various contests and projects have been planned by the National Heroes Commission; and

WHEREAS, the National Heroes Commission needs financial support and the cooperation of the public in carrying out these projects;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIOSDADO MACAPAGAL, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law do hereby authorize the National Heroes Commission to conduct a fund drive from May 1 to 31, 1964, to enable it to carry out its plans and projects. I call upon all citizens to assist in this drive by giving generously of their means and authorize government officials and employees to accept fund-raising responsibilities.
