[ PROCLAMATION NO. 112, May 21, 1963 ]

PROCLAIMING MAY 27, 1963, AS TOWN PLANNING DAY

WHEREAS, in all progressive countries of the world today physical planning of cities and towns is recognized as an essential governmental function;

WHEREAS, most of our cities and towns today have grown without benefit of proper planning guidance, resulting in their haphazard growth;

WHEREAS, this Administration is cognizant of the principles of sound physical planning and development as a means of promoting good civic design and arrangement, healthy and orderly environment, and in contributing to the economic and social upliftment of our people; and

WHEREAS, in order to instill town planning consciousness among our people, it is fitting and proper that May 27, 1963, which coincides with the first day of the Town Planning Convention to be held in Manila from May 27 to 29, 1963, be declared as Town Planning Day;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIOSDADO MACAPAGAL, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare May 27, 1963, as Town Planning Day.1âшphi1
