DECLARING THURSDAY, AUGUST 24, 1961, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE PROVINCES OF SULU, COTABATO, ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE, ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR, DAVAO, LANAO DEL NORTE, LANAO DEL SUR, BUKIDNON, PALAWAN, AGUSAN, SURIGAO DEL NORTE, AND SURIGAO DEL SUR, AND IN THE CITIES OF ZAMBOANGA, BASILAN, DAVAO, ILIGAN, MARAWI, COTABATO, AND BUTUAN

In connection with the feast of Maulid-on-Nabi, one of the most important holidays for Muslims, I, Carlos P. Garcia, President of the Philippines, pursuant to the authority vested in me by section 30 of the Revised Administrative Code, do hereby declare Thursday, August 24, 1961, as a special public holiday in the provinces of Sulu, Cotabato, Zamboanga del Norte, Zarnboanga del Sur, Davao, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Bukidnon, Palawan, Agusan, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur, and in the cities of Zamboanga, Basilan, Davao, Iligan, Marawi, Cotabato, and Butuan.

Muslem officials and employees of the Government, both national and local, performing their duties and functions outside of the provinces and cities above stated, shall be exempted from duty during this feast day which, for purposes of this proclamation, shall be considered as a special public holiday for said officials and employees in their respective stations.
