DECLARING EVERY DAY DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST 1961 AS RIZAL DAY IN BUSINESS

WHEREAS, the month of August 1961 has been set aside for the Commerce and Industry aspect of the year-long celebration of the Rizal Centennial to project the celebration motif of Rizal, Commerce and Industry;

WHEREAS, it is but fitting that in commerce, industry, and business the ideals of our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, be given emphasis in order to highlight the importance of fairness and fair practices in trade, the motive of service above profit in economic pursuits, and patriotism as a driving force in business development, entrepreneurship, and management.1aшphi1

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Carlos P. Garcia, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare every day of August 1961 as Rizal Day in Business throughout the Philippines. I call on all business establishments throughout the country to set aside any day during the month of August in which to celebrate their Rizal Day in Business with an appropriate program aimed at extolling the worthy ideals of the national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, in relation to business in order to promote its conduct on a high plane of propriety, fairness, and serviceability in the interest of sound, maintenance and development of the country’s economy. I also call on all business establishments to give due cognizance to the significance of the celebration in dressing up their show-windows or other displays with the Rizal motif during the said month of August 1961.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
