DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM DECEMBER 1 TO 7 OF EVERY YEAR AS NATIONAL RICE AND CORN PRODUCTION WEEK

WHEREAS, in order to encourage the rapid increase in the production of rice and corn, our principal staple foods, it is necessary to set aside a period during which the people’s attention may be drawn to the importance of increasing our rice and corn supplies and achieving self-sufficiency in these commodities;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CARLOS P. GARCIA, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from December 1 to 7 of every year as National Rice and Corn Production Week.1âшphi1

The Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources shall take charge of and coordinate all activities in connection with the celebration of the said week.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 6th day of August, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-eight, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the thirteenth.
