DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM FEBRUARY 17 TO 24, 1957, AS BROTHERHOOD WEEK

WHEREAS, Brotherhood Week will be observed in Asia, Europe, North America, and other regions of the world on February 17-24, 1957, for the twenty-third successive year;

WHEREAS, with the advent of the atomic age, it has become exceedingly important that the truth, of the universal brotherhood of man under God as sanctioned by morality, religion and science be upheld and the concept of the World Family of Man implanted in the minds and hearts of all peoples; and

WHEREAS, these objectives should receive the whole-hearted support and dedicated attention of all men and women of goodwill;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, RAMON MAGSAYSAY, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from February 17 to 24, 1957, as Brotherhood Week and call upon all the people of the Philippines, regardless of race, religion, class, or creed, to join in the observance of the week in order to increase the understanding, promote the good will, and secure the cooperation necessary to achieve universal peace and prosperity.1âшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 4th day of February, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-seven, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the eleventh.
