[ PROCLAMATION NO. 30, July 30, 1947 ]
DECLARING THE SECOND SATURDAY OF SEPTEMBER OF EACH YEAR AS ARBOR DAY AND CREATING COMMITTEES FOR THE PURPOSE
WHEREAS, man is dependent upon forest trees and cultivated plants; but thousands of valuable trees are wantonly destroyed without benefit to anyone, because people are not informed of their importance; and
WHEREAS, it is important to set aside a day each year so that though appropriate ceremonies and actual re-planting, the people’s attention could be drawn to the importance of trees and plants in their everyday life and their interest awakened;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, MANUEL ROXAS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim the second Saturday of September of each year as Arbor Day, to be observed in schools and elsewhere by the planting of trees and plants.1âшphi1

The above Committees are hereby empowered to appoint such sub-committees as may be necessary to carry into effect the objectives of this proclamation.
