[ Proclamation No. 723, June 9, 1941 ]

DECLARING THURSDAY AFTERNOON, JUNE 12, 1941, A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE CITY OF MANILA AND SURROUNDING MUNICIPALITIES.

Whereas, on the twelfth day of June, 1898, the independence of the Philippines was proclaimed and inaugurated in Kawit, Cavite, by the former Revolutionary Government;

Whereas June 12, 1941 will be the forty-third anniversary of the proclamation of the former Revolutionary Government of the independence of the Philippines;

Whereas it is fitting to commemorate this significant event and towards that end an opportunity should be given to laborers and employees to participate in the festivities which will be held in Manila to celebrate the event;

Now, therefore, I, MANUEL L. QUEZON, President of the Philippines, pursuant to the provisions of section 30 of the Administrative Code, do hereby declare Thursday afternoon, June 12, 1941, a special public holiday in Manila and the surrounding municipalities in order to give the laborers and employees therein opportunity to join the festivities.
