Proclamation No. 422

ESTABLISHING AS MAPASO HOT SPRINGS FOREST RESERVE FOR WATERSHED PROTECTION AND TIMBER PRODUCTION A PARCEL OF PUBLIC DOMAIN SITUATED IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF CABADBARAN, PROVINCE OF AGUSAN, ISLAND OF MINDANAO.

Upon the recommendation of the Director of Forestry, approved by the Secretary of Agriculture and Commerce, and pursuant to the provisions of section eighteen hundred and twenty-six of Act Numbered Twenty-seven hundred and eleven, known as the Revised Administrative Code, I, Manuel L. Quezon, President of the Philippines, hereby establish for watershed protection and timber production the Mapaso Hot Springs Forest Reserve and place it under the administration and control of the Bureau of Forestry, which shall have the authority to regulate the use and occupancy of this reserve and the cutting, collection, and removal of timber and other forest products therein in accordance with the Forest Law and Regulations.

I, therefore, withdraw from entry, sale, or settlement, and hereby declare and proclaim to be the Mapaso Hot Springs Forest Reserve, subject to private rights, if any there be, that portion of the public domain situated in the municipality of Cabadbaran, Province of Agusan, Island of Mindanao, and described in the Bureau of Forestry map No. F. R.-91, to wit:

Beginning at point marked 1 on Bureau of Forestry map No. F. R.-91, an unknown tree, marked Cn. F., identical to corner 1 of communal forest parcel II of Cabadbaran, Agusan, which is S. 35° W., approximately 150 meters from barrio Santiago; thence following Tubay-Jaboanga River downstream in a general south-southwesterly direction about 1,790 meters to corner 2, a point 1020/32 at the north bank of the mouth of Tanhawilan River; thence following Tanha-wilan River upstream in a westerly direction about 90 meters to corner 3, a boulder marked 1020/31 on the north bank of Tanhawilan River; thence following Tanhawilan River upstream in a southwesterly direction about 850 meters to corner 4, a tiga tree, 20 cm. in diameter, marked 1020/24, on the west bank of Tanhawilan Kiver; thence N. 72° W., 450 meters to corner 5, a malugai tree, 40 cm. in diameter, marked 1020/20 on a slope; thence N. 62° W., 350 meters to corner 6, a yakal tree, 50 cm. in diameter, marked 1020/18 on the south bank of Tanhawilan Creek (small); thence due north, 260 meters to corner 7, a bakauan tree, 30 cm. in diameter, marked 1020/17, at the edge of a commercial forest; thence due north 225 meters to corner 8, a narig tree, 50 cm. in diameter, marked 1020/16 at the edge of a commercial forest on a ridge; thence due north 265 meters to corner 9, a narig tree, 60 cm. in diameter, marked 1020/15 at the edge of a commercial forest; thence due north 225 meters to corner 10, a red lauan tree, marked 1020/14 at the foot of a hill; thence due north 165 meters to corner 11, a balobo tree, 30 cm. in diameter, marked 1020/13 on the north bank of Mapaso Creek; thence N. 35° E., 305 meters to corner 12, a point 1020/12 on the bank of Mapaso (branch) Creek; thence N. 27° E., 280 meters to corner 13, a white lauan tree, 50 cm. in diameter, marked’ 1020/11, at the edge of a commercial forest; thence N. 50° E., 420 meters to corner 14, a white lauan tree, 50 cm. in diameter, marked 1020/9, on the top of a rocky cliff; thence N- 51° E., 950 meters to corner 15, an unknown tree, 60 cm. in diameter, marked Cn. F. identical to corner 2 of the communal forest parcel II of Cabadbaran, Agusan; thence S. 22° E., 770 meters to corner 16, a sandit tree, 120 cm. in diameter, marked 1020/1 on the west bank of a dry creek on the southern boundary line of communal forest parcel II of Cabadbaran, Agusan; and thence N. 85° E., 320 meters to corner 1, the point of beginning.

Corners 1 and 15 were marked with Bureau of Forestry official marking hatchet No. 39.

Containing am area of approximately 350 hectares.

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Commonwealth of the Philippines to be affixed.
