BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES

Proclamation No. 10

DECLARING NOVEMBER 29, 1935, PAN-AMERICAN DAY

Whereas, the trip of the China Clipper of the Pan-American Airways to the Philippines will inaugurate the airline between the United States and the Philippines;

Whereas, the establishment of such airline will accelerate and shorten transportation and communication between the United States and the Philippines, thereby benefiting the people of both countries;

And, whereas, such an airline by definitely linking the eastern and western shores of the largest ocean on the globe establishes a landmark in the progress of the world;

Now, therefore, in commemoration of that significant event, I, Manuel L. Quezon, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare November twenty-ninth, nineteen hundred and thirty-five, the day of the arrival of the China Clipper, as Pan-American Day, and furthermore do authorize all government offices in the City of Manila during the afternoon of November twenty-nine, nineteen hundred and thirty-five, to excuse that portion of their personnel which they can spare without prejudicing public business.

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Commonwealth of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done at the City of Manila, this twenty-sixth day of November, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and thirty-five, and of the Commonwealth of the Philippines, the first.
