[ Memorandum Order No. 41, November 25, 1998 ]

WHEREAS, the National Power Corporation (NPC) is a government corporation created under Republic Act 6395, as amended, to undertake projects related to the generation and transmission of electric power throughout the country;

WHEREAS, it is imperative that the implementation of NPCs generation and transmission projects, which are crucial to the countrys overall development, are expedited and carried out without delay, if possible;

WHEREAS, the existing contract approval process/system in NPC is deemed sufficient to ensure the timely completion of its projects while conforming with the standards of transparency and prudent spending; and,

WHEREAS, the creation of the Board Committee on Bids in NPC pursuant to Memorandum Order No. 24 dated 28 September 1998, may result in unnecessary delays in the implementation of critical projects, including procurement of much-needed equipment, machinery and spare parts for NPCs power plants and transmission lines.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order the repeal of Memorandum Order No. 24 dated 28 September 1998.1aшphi1

This Memorandum Order shall take effect immediately.
