CREATING A COMMITTEE TO REVIEW MARITIME SAFETY ADMINISTRATION/FUNCTIONS

In view of the study for the separation of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) from the Philippine Navy (PN) and its eventual placement under the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), there is hereby created a Committee to Review Maritime Safety Administration/Functions, composed of the following:

Secretary of Transportation and Communications, or his representative Chairman
Secretary of National Defense, or his representative Member
Administrator, Maritime Industry Authority Member
General Manager, Philippine Ports Authority Member
Commandant, Philippine Coast Guard – Member
Private Sector Representative, Conference of Interisland Shipowners and Operators Member

The Committee shall study, review, and analyze maritime safety functions as enumerated under Executive Order No. 125-A. The feasibility of either amending Executive Order No. 125-A using Presidential authority under the Administrative Code of 1987, or preparing an administrative bill to accomplish the desired result shall be determined.

A technical committee may be created by the Committee to provide technical support.ℒαwρhi৷

The study and recommendation of the Committee shall be submitted within three (3) months hereof.

This Memorandum Order shall take effect immediately
