[ Memorandum Order No. 60, November 5, 1992 ]

DIRECTING THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE, THE NATIONAL ECONOMIC AND DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY SECRETARIAT, THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND THE OTHER CONCERNED AGENCIES TO HOLD IN ABEYANCE THE IMPLEMENTATION OF EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 8, SERIES OF 1992, WITH RESPECT TO MAIZE (CORN) UNDER HARMONIZED SYSTEM HEADING NOS. 1005.10 00, 1005.90 00 AND 1104.23 00 OF ANNEX B OF SAID ORDER UNTIL 28 FEBRUARY 1993.

WHEREAS, there is need to further discuss with and undertake among concerned agencies/entities the impending lifting of import restrictions on corn due to the prevailing conditions in the world market for said commodity;

WHEREAS, there may not be sufficient time within which to complete the consultations and initiate measures that will cushion the impact of the lifting of the import restrictions on corn on the affected sectors prior to the effectivity thereof on 01 November 1992;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order:

Section 1. The Department of Finance, the National Economic and Development Authority Secretariat, the Department of Agriculture and the concerned agencies are hereby directed to hold in abeyance until 28 February 1993 the implementation of Executive Order No. 8, series of 1992 with respect to maize (corn) under Harmonized System Heading Nos. 1005.10 00, 1005.90 00 and 1104.23 00 of Annex B of said Order.

Section 2. This Memorandum Order shall take effect immediately.
