AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 83, DATED MAY 18, 1964, ENTITLED “REQUIRING ALL DEPARTMENTS, BUREAUS, OFFICES, AGENCIES, INSTRUMENTALITIES AND POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS OF THE GOVERNMENT, INCLUDING THE CORPORATIONS OWNED AND CONTROLLED BY THE GOVERNMENT, THE ARMED FORCES, GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS, AND PUBLIC EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS TO BUY THROUGH PUBLIC BIDDING FROM LOCAL TEXTILE MILLS, WHENEVER AVAILABLE, ALL THEIR REQUIREMENTS FOR CLOTHING MATERIALS”

In order to develop the ramie industry, encourage the establishment of textile mills dependent on local sources of raw materials, and promote the cooperative movement, I, Diosdado Macapagal, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby amend Executive Order No. 83 dated May 18, 1964, by adding thereto a new paragraph to read as follows:

“3. This Order shall not apply to requisitions for ramie materials and/or blends thereof, which may be purchased directly from duly organized Philippine entities engaged in the production and processing of ramie.”
